MICHAEL SPICER, CSC   DOP / DIRECTOR

Michael is a recent addition to the Fenian team.  He is a member of The Canadian Society of Cinematographers and has been working as a cinematographer and lighting designer for the past 18 years. Recently Michael won his second Gemini Award. He has traveled to Europe, Africa and across North America photographing a wide variety of projects including feature films, performance art films, documentaries, music videos and commercials.       

His list of credits as a cinematographer includes the Gemini Award winning films The Village Trilogy, Year of the Lion, Stormy Weather and Roxana. As a lighting designer his credits include Rhombus Media's The Canadian Brass, A Christmas Experiment as well as dance and theatrical presentations at a variety of Toronto venues including Convocation Hall and the DuMaurier Theatre Center. 

Michael has also contributed to the photography of many Hollywood studio pictures as the second unit cinematographer. A former resident of Los Angeles his studio credits include Ernest Dickerson's Bones, Randy Miller's The Sixth Man, Tony Bill's Harland County War and Todd Holland's Firehouse Dog. He is comfortable working in all film and video formats and is skilled in underwater, anamorphic, visual and special effects cinematography. Recently Michael was awarded the Canadian Society of Cinematographers Award for Excellence in Photography for the dance film Roxana.

Michael currently lives in Toronto and is proud to have been raised in Hamilton.
